This 1,300 mile trail from Nauvoo, Illinois to the Great Salt Lake Valley is a rich part of Salt Lake heritage. More than 70,000 pioneers traveled the trail to find religious freedom. Many had to leave almost all they had behind. The trail officially ends at “This is the Place” monument which depicts Brigham Young announcing to the Saints that the journey is over.
